Polish-Russian scientific workshops entitled “Sibirica – A History of the Poles in Siberia in the Polish and Russian scientists researches” is a project of the Jozef Mianowski Fund – A Foundation for the Promotion of Science implemented in cooperation with The State Public Scientific Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk, The Warsaw University Institute of History, Pultusk Academy of Humanities and The Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University Institute of History, Social and Humanities financed by the Centre for Polish-Russian Dialogue and Understanding. The project provides an organization of the Polish-Russian workshops / seminars on the scientific achievements of Polish and Russian studies in the field of a history of the polish activities in Siberia. Project will be implemented in Poland (1-15 September 2012) and Russia (8-22 October 2012).

Polish and Russian researchers invited to participate in the project are recognized scientific authorities with respected scientific achievements on the Siberian issue, interested in sharing experiences and ready to realize joint research projects. Common scholarship programs and joint researches project are one of the few opportunities to contact the scientists and to share research methodology experiences. Thanks to the project, researchers from Poland and Russia will have an opportunity chance to get acquainted with Polish and Russian scientific achievements and to implement important researches in collaboration with research centers in both countries.

During the project, lecturers and seminars will be conducted at the University of Warsaw Institute of History, Pultusk Academy of Humanities, The National Library in Warsaw, The State Public Scientific Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk and The Institute of History, Social and Humanities of The Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University. The participants of the project will also participate in the conference in Bialystok and take part in study visits to research institutes. Moreover, each participant will present individual research project related to the theme of the project. In addition, their task will be to organize and lead own workshops/seminar on a topic related to Polish and Russian scientific contribution in the studies of the history of Poles in Siberia, with particular emphasis on research methodology, research infrastructure and achievements of previous generations of scientists.

The intention of the project is to create the Polish-Russian research group (scientific network) which will work on the issues of the Polish and Russian heritage of science about the Poles who lived and worked in Siberia in recent centuries. The cooperation established during the workshops will serve not only the exchange of experiences and mutual understanding of academic scholars, but it will be continued after the project. The aim is to establish a common bibliographic database and to create permanent platform for dialogue and contact between the Polish and Russian scientific institutes.
